Just saw that OCI has enabled preview for new OCI Console experience. To enable it, scroll down on your dashboard after login and click on the enable preview.
Let’s take a look on it!
When I login to the Console, I see the normal dashboard with slightly bigger fonts.
Not all services have been enabled but at least Compute, Networking and few others.
So about the new experience! Biggest change seems to be focusing on the “main” tab, the side bar where you used to filter things is not visible anymore. What I think is cool is that compartment is part of the filter now!
Clicking the applied compartment, I can see other compartments. One thing I would like to have seen is to include subcompartment resources if needed! Sometimes you would like to see ALL compute instances within given parent compartment.
What about other filters, I can use different filters like name etc. Pretty much any possible value the resource has, very useful! Interface is very responsive as well.
I did try to filter with name with a wildcard but it didn’t seem to work (yet at least) as you see below.
Finally, if I look the networking – I ABSOLUTELY love the new look and how to browse between related resources. They’re moved from the left of the screen to be on top like you see below.
Overall, very good UI change which long term makes using OCI more simplified / faster than previously. Sometimes UI changes can be horrible like (my personal opinion) the new My Oracle Support update was, but this seems well thought and organized change!
